Internet Rules of the Road

Purpose:

This software will be used to support and facilitate collaborative learning for students of all ages and across all disciplines. We are committed to providing a high quality, safe, Internet-based educational experience to students and schools across the world. We believe that our collaborative software facilitates discussions and discovery-based learning. We believe that the issues of Internet safety are very important for schools. It is important that all who intend to participate in these collaborative learning experiences review these policies and procedures. The rules and code of conduct contract are to assist us in providing an educational environment that is appropriate for all.

Procedures:

Educators and Administrators will be required to register giving their full names and contact information, and provide a user name and password. We will use this information to contact the system administrators and will not share, sell, or distribute this information without the written consent of the user. Teachers or administrators will have access to their students' names and passwords for safety and security reasons.

Students will not be asked to provide full contact information. They will be asked to provide a user name and a password. Students should be instructed by their teachers not to share this information.

Acceptable Use Policy

DO:

Use the Internet to find information.

Use the Internet to explore far away places.

Use the Internet to work and collaborate with other students across the world.

Use the Internet to publish your creative artwork and writings.

Use the Internet to learn more about the careers, universities, and colleges you may be interested in.

Let your teachers know if you come across any information or people that makes you feel uncomfortable.

Respect other's rights to privacy.

Conduct honest research when utilizing the collaborative education environment.

DO NOT:

Give out personal information such as your last name, phone number, address, or location of school.

Use language that is offensive to anyone.

Send or display inappropriate pictures or messages.

Give your password to anyone.

Enter a chat without the supervision of an adult.

Harass or insult anyone.

Copy or take anyone else's material and use it as if it were your own.

Use the computer to access anyone else's files or other important information.

Use anyone else's password.

Ever agree to get together with someone you "met" on-line.

Make any deliberate attempts to disrupt the computer system or the software running.

Consequences for Inappropriate Use:

Illegal use of this software or intentional damage to this program may result in the appropriate actions being taken by the appropriate authorities.

Failure to follow this acceptable use policy will result in loss of the right of access to all Innerlink software. Other disciplinary measures may take place, as deemed necessary by the appropriate authorities.
